They do have the best knights in the region. The Teutonic order was so ruthless in their crusade against the Lithuanians that they did manage to quickly and effectively convert the population to christianity(If you pick Lithuania you’ll convert after a few years, you can’t avoid it), but all the other factions in the region feel great mistrust toward them. The other factions in the region quickly realise that the germans are everyone’s main enemy and start to cooperate to fight them. They slaughtered the Lithuanians into submission and forcefully converted the population, but also struck at Novgorod and Poland itself. The Teutonic order quickly became the fear of the land. At Poland’s request, the Holy Roman Empire despatched their most elite knights to convert the Lithuanian people, who are the last European pagans. The factions are: Teutonic knights, Holy Roman Empire, Poland, Lithuania, Novgorod(Russia), and Denmark. The Teutonic campaign is set around the 13th century, in the Baltic. Byzantium hasn’t got a massive role in the campaign but they could use the opportunity to regain some of the lands they lost to Turkey while the Turks are too preocupied with the Crusaders. The Kingdom of Jerusalem’s goal is to spread south where they will encounter Egypt, while Antioch’s greatest foe is Turkey to the north. Theiy recruitment costs are also pretty high. Their knights are the best fighters in the region but are grossly outnumbered by the muslim jihadists. The crusader’s greatest problem is a shortage of troops. If you pick 1 of these factions, your goal should be to improve cooperation with the other muslim nation to expel the Christians. The Turks and Egyptians in the beginning, aren’t in such friendly relations, which is basically why they lost Herusalem to the crusaders. They are obviously, allies and work work together to fight the muslims that surround the Holy Land. The Kingdom and Prinicipality are crusader states, formed agter the 1st crusade. The factions available are: THe Kingdom of Jerusalem, The Principality of Antioch, Turkey, Egypt and the Byzantine Empire. THe map consists of Turkey, and the middle eastern countries. The Crusades campaign starts in the 12th century. Medieval total war is made up of a main, European campaign, and 4 seperate campaigns Teutonic, Crusades, Americas and Britain.
